Rhino 3DM files, in your Mac library.
HEXOstudios' own Rhino reader draws the display meshes saved in .3dm files: library cards, the preview panel and Full Preview.
One Rhino file. Four ways to see it.
A Rhino file shows its model on its library card, drawn from the display meshes saved in the file.
Select the file and the same model appears in the preview panel.
Open it full screen and explore it in interactive 3D.
The file's own record: the Rhino version, what it was made with, its units, and how much of the model is shown.
Display meshes, as Rhino saved them.
Its colours, its layers, its blocks.
Every file, with its own record.
HEXOstudios lays out what a Rhino file says about itself beside the model, and says plainly when only part of it is shown.

Nothing to draw? It tells you why.
A Rhino file with nothing HEXOstudios can draw never leaves a blank card without a reason. These are the app's own words.
This Rhino file has no display meshes saved in it that HEXOstudios can draw.
This Rhino file holds only curves, text or points. HEXOstudios shows the display meshes saved in a file.
Every object in this Rhino file is hidden.
HEXOstudios can't read this Rhino file version yet.

Rhino 3DM files on a Mac, answered.
Can I open a Rhino 3DM file on a Mac without Rhino?
Yes, when the file holds display meshes. HEXOrinoEngine, HEXOstudios' own Rhino reader, reads the display meshes saved inside a .3dm file and shows them as a card in your library, in the preview panel and in Full Preview, on your Mac.
Which Rhino files does HEXOstudios preview?
Files saved by Rhino 5 to 8, from the display meshes saved in the file. Files from Rhino 2 to 4, and surfaces saved without display meshes, are not drawn.
Does HEXOstudios keep a Rhino file's colours and layers?
Yes. Each object is drawn in the display colour saved in the file, from the object, its layer, its material or its block, and hidden objects and hidden layers stay hidden. Textures, render materials and transparency are not drawn.
Why does a Rhino file show nothing, or only part of the model?
HEXOstudios draws only the display meshes saved in the file. When there is nothing to draw, it says why in plain words, for example when every object is hidden or the file holds only curves, text or points. When only some objects have display meshes, the File Passport says how many objects are shown in full.
Are my Rhino files uploaded anywhere?
No. HEXOrinoEngine runs inside HEXOstudios on your Mac. Your .3dm files never leave your machine.
Part of HEXOstudios.
HEXOrinoEngine is built into HEXOstudios, alongside HEXOstpEngine, Preview, Passport, Health and HEXOforge.
