No. HEXOstudios organizes and previews your files; it doesn’t slice them or control printers. When a file is ready to print, Send to Slicer hands it to a slicer already installed on your Mac.

Seven 3D formats: STL, OBJ, PLY, AMF, 3MF, USDZ and STEP. G-code files are supported too: Pro shows their toolpaths in Full 3D Preview and reads their print details in File Passport.

HEXOstudios is free on the Mac App Store, with no limit on how many files your library holds. Free includes importing files and folders, Smart Search, Batch Rename, and unlimited thumbnails and 3D preview for STL, OBJ, PLY, AMF and USDZ, plus 12 unique 3MF files and 12 unique STEP files, for life.

Pro adds nested folder import, Full 3D Preview, File Passport with notes and tags, Send to Slicer, Project Queue, Library Health, Visual Export, HEXOforge and Workspace Glow, and previews unlimited 3MF and STEP files.

You start it inside HEXOstudios. For 14 days you get every Pro feature at no charge, and nothing is purchased automatically when it ends. You can buy Pro during the trial or after it.

If you don’t, HEXOstudios returns to Free: your files, folders and organization stay exactly as they are, Pro features switch off, and your 12 + 12 free 3MF and STEP previews carry on.

No subscription. Pro is a one-time purchase of $24.99 USD (the Mac App Store shows your local price), made inside HEXOstudios through the Mac App Store. Once bought, it’s yours to keep.

Pro belongs to the Apple Account you bought it with. Sign in to the Mac App Store with that account, open the Pro window in HEXOstudios and choose Restore Purchase.

Yes. HEXOstudios has no network access of its own, no account and no cloud. It works with your files where they already are and never copies them into itself, and HEXOforge converts on your Mac. Only the Mac App Store talks to Apple, for your download, trial and purchase.

Yes. HEXOstudios is built for real collections: 200,000+ files in a single import. Your library has no limit on how many files it holds, even on Free; importing whole nested folder trees, with every subfolder kept as your library’s structure, is part of Pro. Single files are another matter: a very large file can be too big to preview in 3D, and HEXOforge converts files up to 500 MB.

Yes. Your files can stay on an external drive, and HEXOstudios marks them with a drive icon. If the drive is disconnected, those files stay in your library, marked unavailable, and reconnect automatically when the drive is back. With Pro, Library Health also shows whether the drive is connected, with a Rescan.

Send to Slicer (Pro) finds the slicers installed on your Mac, with no fixed list, and sends a file in one click, checking first that the slicer can open that format. You can add or hide slicers in Settings, and Project Queue sends several files one after another.

File Passport (Pro) is a detail sheet for 3MF, STEP and G-code files: plate names, object counts, dimensions, filaments and print-time details when the file includes them, and a STEP file’s source, structure and geometry. You can add your own notes and tags.

Yes. HEXOstudios recognizes multi-plate 3MF files and shows the plate count right on the file card. You can step through each plate in the 3D preview, and File Passport lists plate names and object counts.

The format converter built into HEXOstudios (Pro). Send an STL, OBJ, PLY, 3MF or AMF file from your library and get a clean STL, OBJ or PLY copy back, filed into your Converted folder. It runs entirely on your Mac: no upload, no internet, no credits.
