01 THE APP HEXOstudios for Mac
Everything runs on your Mac.
HEXOstudios is a sandboxed Mac app with no network access of its own: it has no permission to connect to the internet. There is no account or sign-in, no analytics and no advertising, and it sends nothing about you or your files to us or to anyone else.
Previews, STEP processing and HEXOforge conversions all run on your Mac.
Your files.
You choose which files and folders HEXOstudios can open. It works with them where they are and never copies them into itself. So that your library can reopen them after a restart, HEXOstudios saves a macOS access permission for each location you choose.
What HEXOstudios keeps on your Mac.
To show your library quickly, HEXOstudios stores in its own folder on your Mac: an index of the files you import (names, locations, sizes and formats), thumbnails and previews, the notes, tags, favorites and folders you create, Project Queue and Slicer History, your settings, and the files you convert with HEXOforge, in its Converted folder.
It also keeps two small records in your Mac’s Keychain: which files have used your free 3MF and STEP previews, and a marker the Pro trial uses to keep time. None of this leaves your Mac.
Sending files to other apps.
Send to Slicer opens a file in the slicer you choose; from there, that app’s own privacy practices apply. Exports are saved only where you choose to save them.
Purchases and the free trial.
The 14-day Pro trial and the Pro purchase go through the Mac App Store. Apple handles the transaction, and HEXOstudios checks your trial and purchase status with Apple through macOS. Code Bros. LLC never receives your payment details or your Apple Account credentials.
Crash reports.
HEXOstudios has no crash reporting of its own. If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in macOS, Apple may pass crash reports and diagnostics on to us. You control this in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements.
02 THE WEBSITE hexostudios.com
No cookies, no analytics, no tracking.
hexostudios.com sets no cookies, keeps nothing in your browser’s storage, and uses no analytics or advertising. It loads no third-party scripts, fonts or embeds: everything you see, including the videos and the typefaces, is served from this site.
Server logs.
Like any website, the servers that host hexostudios.com receive standard request information in order to deliver pages, such as your IP address, your browser type and the page you asked for, and may record it in server logs.
Links to Apple.
Links to the Mac App Store take you to Apple, where Apple’s privacy policy applies.
03 EMAIL Only when you send it
The website asks for your email address in three places. Each has one purpose, and each is used only when you choose to send it.
Contact Support.
Your name, your email address, your message and anything else you choose to include, used to answer you. The form sends it as one email to our support mailbox; the website itself keeps no copy. Writing to support@hexostudios.com directly works the same way.
Email me the Mac App Store link.
Your email address, used to send you one email with the link to HEXOstudios on the Mac App Store, so you can open it on your Mac. The address isn’t kept afterwards, and it never signs you up for anything.
HEXO Updates.
Your email address, only if you subscribe, used to send occasional news about new releases and HEXOsuite. It is kept by Buttondown, the service that sends HEXO Updates for us, together with the IP address you signed up from, which Buttondown uses to screen out fake sign-ups and to estimate your general location. You first get an email asking you to confirm, and nothing else is sent until you do.
Updates contain no open or click tracking, and every one has an unsubscribe link. Asking for the Mac App Store link never subscribes you: updates go only to people who sign up for them and confirm.
How these emails are delivered.
Contact Support and Mac App Store link emails are sent from our own mailboxes at DreamHost, the company that hosts hexostudios.com. HEXO Updates are sent by Buttondown. Both handle your address only to deliver these emails for us. We never sell your email address or use it for advertising.
Protection against misuse.
To stop automated misuse of these forms, our server briefly keeps a record of recent submissions: only a one-way coded form of your network address and of the email address entered, with the time. It is used only to limit repeated sends and is cleared after about a day.
04 YOUR CHOICES And how to reach us
